The newest generation of CT scanners in Krakow!
At John Paul II Hospital in Krakow we have, first in Poland the newest generation of CT scanners, the Somatom Definition 128-slice dual source CT system. In contrast to the ordinary CT scanners, dual source CT uses two X-ray sources and detector systems that rotate in synchrony to acquire image data.
Contrast enhanced dual source CT scanning provides measurable clinical benefits, especially in such rapidly evolving areas as cardiology and emergency medicine where early and effective diagnosis is of major importance.
Dual energy scanning using two X-ray sources running at different energy levels allows to differentiate, isolate and characterize normal tissue and diseased tissue.
