On 18 February 2009 by an official decision the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow got accredited and obtained an Accreditation Certificate No. 2009/1 valid from 4 March 2009 to 3 March 2012.
On 29 January 2009 the Center for Rehabilitation and Family Medicine opened a physician office.
On 16 December 2008 the Hospital hosted an organizational meeting to address the implementation of the Tele – ECG – Lifenet system.
On 25 November 2008 the team of the Clinical Ward of Cardiovascular Surgery and Transplantology at John Paul II Hospital performed percutaneous aortic valve replacement, without thoracotomy, for the first time in Poland.
The John Paul II Hospital was ranked as the best hospital in Maloposka in the category “Modern diagnostics 2008” according to the hospital ranking carried out by “Rzeczpospolita”. Of 100 hospitals in Poland it ranked 30 (as the only hospital from Krakow) in the category of multispecialist and oncological hospitals.

EU funds for research and innovative medical technology
On 19 June 2008 Assoc. Prof. Mieczysław Pasowicz, Hospital Director bestowed upon Rev. Prof. Michał Heller the Special Medal Pro Bono Curantium established by the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow.
On 19 May 2008 the John Paul II Hospital was ranked among the nation’s good hospitals according to the National Ranking for Hospitals by the Super Express.
The Council on the Quality International 2008 under the patronage of the Ministry of Regional Development, the Polish Agency for Entrepreneurship and the Polish ISO 9000 Forum Club presented to our Hospital the silver prize Quality International in the category of the highest quality services.
The John Paul II Hospital was distinguished by the City Council for the best implementation of original preventive projects in 2007. The ceremony was held on 11 March 2008.
Following decision of the Steering Committee of the Jagiellonian Business Club (JBC) in February 2008 the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow became a member of the JBC.
On 9 January 2008 the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow signed an agreement with the Foundation „To Live”. The Foundation will support the development of the Ward of Neural Infection and Pediatric Neurology.
On 2 December 2007 the weekly „Newsweek Polska” announced its hospital ranking “Where to find cure” according to which our Hospital was ranked very high in the category of Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology.
The John Paul II Hospital in Krakow was honored with distinction award PEARLS IN MEDICINE 2007 in the category of Multispecialist Hospitals with more than 400 beds.
On 11 November 2007 our Hospital was honored with distinction award of the Polish Quality Award - The 13th Edition in the category of public healthcare institutions.
The John Paul II Hospital was ranked as the best hospital in Maloposka in the category “Safe Hospital 2007” according to the hospital ranking carried out by “Rzeczpospolita”.
On 12 June 2007 the team of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Transplantology at the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow performed the 500th heart transplantation.
On Saturday 9 June 2007 the jubilee ceremony to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the John Paul II Hospital in Krakow was held at the Slowacki Theater.
The John Paul II Hospital received the Malopolska Quality Award 2006 in the category of medical institutions.
