The Ward of Thoracic Surgery opened in 1949 (head: Assoc. Prof. J. Gasiński) and in 1975 it was renamed the Center of Cardiothoracic Surgery (head: Assoc. Prof. M. Juszczyński). The Ward of Thoracic Surgery was reorganized in 1988 and supervised by Dr. Henryk Olechnowicz, an assistant of Prof. S. Mlekodaj from the Institute of Tuberculosis in Warsaw. In 2005-2007 the facility was modernized and converted into a completely new surgical unit - 3 operating rooms and intensive care room.

Diagnostic and Treatment Capabilities:

The ward has 48 beds. The surgical unit with three operating rooms and a 12-bed intensive pulmonology care unit is equipped with the newest surgical devices and systems. When the modernization is over, the Ward will be the most modem facility of its kind in Poland. We offer a wide variety of treatments for patients with diseases of the chest.
