The John Paul II Hospital in Krakow is equipped with a dual-source 128-slice CT scanner Somatom Definition, first in Poland. This scanner, unlike ordinary CT machines, uses two X-ray sources and two detectors.
Contrast-enhanced dual-source CT imaging promotes new clinical opportunities, especially in the rapidly evolving fields such as cardiac or emergency imaging, making it the ideal tool for early and accurate diagnosis.
Dual-energy scanning, using two X-ray sources at the same time (each X-ray source has its own level of energy) provides better visualization, characterization and differentiation of normal from altered tissue.
